Even though Wai Innovation roared to life with only a waterjet, the laser we added a few years ago has totally changed the game. We operate a 3kW fibre laser, which isn’t crazy power, at least in the laser game, but it’s brutally fast when we turn it loose with the materials with which it excels.
We also run a nitrogen generator alongside our laser, which means that we can economically process stainless steel, aluminium, and thinner steel. If your local laser cutter is paying for nitrogen, you’re paying too much for your parts!
While the waterjet is a brute force jack of all trades, our laser is a surgical scalpel, capable of extremely precise cuts on even the most aggressive of production schedules.
Complementing its brutal speed is its crane loader. Running at full tilt, it’s all we can do to keep this machine fed with material.
Our capabilities on the big laser include mild steel through 12mm, stainless steel through 8mm, and aluminium through 6mm. Our bed is 1500x3000mm, and while we’re able to play a few tricks with larger sheets, any of the strange stuff really is best suited to the waterjet.
